APT organized a conference on “Youth, Peace and Security” on November 3, 2015 at Ministries Palace – Government Media and Information Center (GMIC). More than 200 participants including high government officials, members of Afghanistan parliament, civil society activists and youth attended the conference.
Ali Fayez programs manager of APT did the opening of the conference by introducing APT’s vision and programs to the audience. Ali also read the Dari translation of the Amman Declaration on “Youth, Peace and Security”. The Amman Declaration was adopted at the Global Forum on Youth, Peace and Security in Amman, Jordan on 22 August 2015. Ali shared the upcoming programs of APT such as sending Afghan students to World University Debating Championship 2016 (WUDC) and a research project that will start in Decembers.
Then, Dr. Kamal Sadaat the Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs of Afghan Government gave speech and declared that Deputy Ministry of Youth Affairs is committed to support APT and Afghan youths.
Afterwards Mr. Mustafa Saeedi , the advisor of Ahmad Zia Masoud, Special Envoy to President on Reforms and Good Governance gave speech. He reminded that Afghanistan National Youth Policy and Amman Declaration are at the same line of showing a road map that youth must be considered as active agents of change in the society. He promised to share the declaration with Special Envoy of President Ghani on Reforms and Good Governance. He also talked about the commitment of National Unity Government regarding youth.
At the end of the program APT gave the award of “Young Peace Builder” to the following youth activist:
Kamal Sadat, Soraya Yousufi, Abdul Wahab Qurishi, Bahman Shahi, Ali Parsa, Ramiz Bakhtiar, Dawood Safi, Zabiullah Noorzad and Abu Muslim Sherzad. The conference covered by media too.
